Ocean’s World Educator’s Guide is a comprehensive educational resource that includes curriculum, lesson plans and fun activities designed to continue learning after viewing the film. The resources align with the Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core State Standards and Ocean Literacy Principles.
Our interactive lessons, based on the film, allow students to experience how ocean and climate systems are interconnected. Students will learn how food webs model the relationships between organisms in a coral reef ecosystem and how humans affect these systems through overfishing, pollution and climate change.
These activities will help students understand how a single species can impact an entire marine ecosystem, highlighting the importance of protecting biodiversity and fostering community resilience in the face of environmental challenges. Students will also examine the roles that scientists play in these important endeavors and how they can get involved.
The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation partnered with K2 Studios to produce this educator’s guide in conjunction with the Giant Screen IMAX(r) film, Ocean Odyssey. It is designed to support teachers in implementing the concepts that are covered by the film, including ocean literacy and many NOAA mission critical areas. Eight elementary school-level lessons are presented, each one inspired by a different topic highlighted in the film
